Meadow Ridge history.
Meadow Ridge is set high on a picturesque hilltop in Redding, CT, surrounded by scenic Connecticut countryside. According to the “History of Redding,” the community is located on the site of the former Gilbert Farm, owned by Edwin Gilbert. Gilbert’s father founded the Gilbert & Bennett factory, which produced wire mesh cloth and operated until the 1980s, when operations were moved elsewhere.
Meadow Ridge was founded by David Reis, who envisioned a community that would offer a superior level of style and services for discerning individuals. Senior Care Development, a Harrison, NY-based firm specializing in Life Plan communities, developed Meadow Ridge and is majority owner.

Meadow Ridge welcomed its first residents in 2001 to the 136-acre campus. In 2021, we celebrate our 20th anniversary.
In early 2021, Benchmark Senior Living became part owner and operator of the community. Today, Meadow Ridge is an award-winning senior living community comprised of more than 300 Independent and Assisted Living apartment homes and 62 Skilled Nursing beds. Meadow Ridge employs more than 275 people.
