REDDING, CT—The brand-new Assisted Living neighborhood at Meadow Ridge, a senior living community in Redding, CT, will officially open with a special ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

The Assisted Living community will feature 20 generously sized one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment homes. This community accommodates up to 28 residents, who will benefit from the availability of personalized care and a team of dedicated associates who ensure residents get individual assistance with an experience that offers the highest level of amenities and services.

Julia Pemberton, First Selectman, will be on site for the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Meadow Ridge campus Executive Director Christopher Barstein, Chief Executive Officer of Senior Care Development David Reis and the longest tenured resident of Meadow Ridge, Enid Busch who will be the first resident in the Assisted Living neighborhood.

The brand-new Assisted Living neighborhood provides residents of the community a lifestyle that offers a perfect balance of independence and assistance. Refined and stately, the new apartment homes are more spacious than traditional assisted living apartment homes and are set in an elegant and welcoming boutique-style community, offering access to shared spaces with several dining venues serving farm-to-table cuisine, an auditorium hosting live performances, a well-stocked library, an indoor pool and sauna, and a fitness center providing personal training and group exercise classes. The Meadow Ridge grounds feature a dog park, tennis court, croquet court, putting green, bocce court, hiking trails, fishing pond, and gardening areas. Meadow Ridge is one of Connecticut’s most comprehensive continuing care retirement communities, set within 136 acres amongst rolling hills and offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and award-winning Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

In 2022, Ridge Crest, the Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation neighborhood at Meadow Ridge, received the highest rating from U.S. News & World Report for its short- and long-term nursing care. U.S. News remains at the forefront of providing data-driven information and guidance to help residents, families and caregivers understand their short- and long-term care options.

A special feature of the project involved taking the previous assisted living unit and converting it into a specialized memory care neighborhood specifically designed for residents who are experiencing different forms of dementia. From the memory care layout to lighting, dining and activities, each element is modeled to function with these residents’ unique needs in mind. The lighting will be warmer to help combat sundowning—or late-day confusion that may affect people with dementia—and the apartments offer a studio-style layout, so residents have everything they need in view and there’s less of a chance they will become disoriented from walking into another room.

Roughly 30 new associates have been hired to work in the updated community, with additional positions opening regularly. All memory care associates will be trained in behavioral expression to teach them how to best understand and fulfill the residents’ needs.

“Memory impairment often causes a decline in communication and social skills, as well as decline in the ability for the individual to perform many tasks they face in daily life. said Chris Barstein, executive director of Meadow Ridge. Our new neighborhood is planned to reduce situations and obstacles that may cause stress in residents, enhancing their quality of life. This is a safe and secure neighborhood, so our resident’s family members can have peace of mind along with the person-centered care designed to meet the needs of their loved one.”

Sales counselors will be available for personalized tours of the Meadow Ridge Assisted Living neighborhood. Reserve your spot by calling 203-544-7777 or visiting MeadowRidge.com.
