A determined group of residents at Meadow Ridge in Redding are fighting for a more sustainable future. Their push for change sparked a transformative solar installation that’s cutting carbon emissions and long-term energy costs. CT Buzz reporter Jillian Andrews met with the residents that made it happen.

Susan Auslander, a resident at Meadow Ridge was the driving force behind the project. She recruited other members of her community to join in her mission and formed a solar committee.
“I’m very pleased that it came to fruition, and you know I applaud the ownership here at Meadow Ridge for their generosity in doing this,” Auslander told CT Buzz.
“One of the benefits of the solar project here is we’re saving between 15% to 20% on our electricity bill,” Doug Dawson, a Meadow Ridge resident and member of the community’s solar committee said.
Solar Installation Community Impact
- Meadow Ridge’s Anticipated Annual Electricity Supply from Solar: 20%
- Estimated Lifetime Savings: $7.6 Million
- Estimated Offset Carbon Saved Each Year: 605 Tons

The team of residents that worked to bring the project to life earned the Connecticut Green Bank’s esteemed President’s Award.
