Redding, Conn. – Meadow Ridge, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Redding, Conn., was recently awarded Platinum in the Horticultural Service category at the 2023 International Plantscape Awards in Tampa, Fla. for its magnificent three-story atrium and gardens maintained by John Mini Distinctive Landscaping.

The lush gardens feature an array of plants, including 17 large fiscus trees, koi ponds, and benches and tables. Residents retreat to the space as a little oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The atrium and gardens have been maintained by John Mini Distinctive Landscaping since 2015, and the results speak for themselves. Residents and visitors alike are amazed by the beauty of the space and the peaceful atmosphere it creates.

“We are thrilled to have received the Platinum Award at the 2023 International Plantscape Awards thanks to the hard work and dedication of the John Mini team,” said Christopher Barstein, Executive Director of Meadow Ridge. “Our goal is to create an environment that is not only beautiful but also promotes peace, relaxation, and well-being for our residents.”

Presented by I-Plants Magazine, the 2023 International Plantscape Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in interior plantscape design, installation, creativity, renovation, and innovation. Award winners earn a designation of gold or platinum based on points scored from information and photos provided. Judging criteria for Horticulture Service included five categories: appearance of project, special maintenance requirements, quality of entry materials, client testimonials, and safety considerations.

“It is a very welcoming community,” said Bob Saunders, a Meadow Ridge resident. “One of the things you see when you come through the front door and out to the atrium is how gorgeous it is. The minute my foot crossed the threshold, I felt very confident that this was going to be my new home.”
