Cristina Cardena

Role and Responsibilities

As mind & memory care director at Ridge Crest, the health center at Meadow Ridge, Cristina Cardenas serves as a trusted resource for residents, families and care partners within the Mind & Memory Care neighborhood. She oversees the quality of services and daily operations while supporting and coaching the care team to help residents experience meaningful, purposeful days in a warm, engaging environment.

“I know that caring for a resident in Memory Care is not just about daily routines. It is about understanding who they are, what brings them comfort, what makes them smile and how we can help them feel at home. I also understand how important communication and trust are for families,” Cristina shares.

Industry Expertise

Cristina has been part of the Meadow Ridge community since 2010. Her career began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she developed a deep appreciation for resident-centered care and built meaningful connections with residents and families.

Throughout her career, she has embraced opportunities for growth and leadership. Meadow Ridge supported her in completing EMT training, which led to a role within the community’s EMT and security department. In 2020, Cristina transitioned to environmental services, first serving as environmental services assistant and later being promoted to environmental services manager.

“I’m proud of the opportunities I’ve had to grow at Meadow Ridge and give back to a community that has given me so much,” she says.

Passion for Senior Care

“I knew I wanted to help others when I saw my aunt working in a hospital,” shares Cristina.

Inspired by her aunt’s compassion and dedication, Cristina knew early on that she wanted a career centered on caring for others. Today, she finds joy in supporting residents and creating meaningful connections that enrich their daily lives.

“What I treasure most is getting to know their stories. I could sit with them for hours if time allowed,” she shares. “Learning about their careers, how they met their spouses and all the experiences that have shaped their lives is incredibly rewarding. The greatest reward is not just providing services but building connections and making a meaningful difference in their day-to-day lives.”

Leadership Philosophy

“I believe in leading by example, with respect, accountability and collaboration at the core of my approach. My goal is to create an environment where team members feel valued, supported and empowered to grow while working together to provide the best experience for our residents and community,” says Cristina.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Cristina enjoys spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of two children who have taught her patience, understanding and the importance of being present for others. She enjoys attending her children’s school activities, gardening and spending time outdoors.

“During the summer, we love going to Rhode Island on the weekends to enjoy the beaches and beautiful sunsets,” Cristina says. “I also enjoy gardening, where I can lose myself in the work and come away feeling reenergized, especially during harvest when it’s time to collect the rewards of my efforts.”
