Adelino Barata fulfills a dual role as mind & memory care director and infection preventionist at Meadow Ridge. In this capacity, he ensures the cleanliness and functionality of the community’s common areas and apartment homes, adhering to Connecticut and Benchmark guidelines. Additionally, he proactively monitors trends and implements measures to prevent infection outbreaks.
His demeanor and patience allow him to work effectively with dementia residents with behavioral difficulties. The successful outcomes are the best part of his job he says, adding, “It’s an incredible feeling to see someone laughing minutes after they were in tears.”

With 13 years of experience in caring for individuals with dementia, Adelino possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs within the field of mind and memory care. His expertise extends to infection prevention, where he employs his knowledge to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
Passion for Senior Care
His passion for senior care is rooted in his personal experience as a recipient of compassionate medical treatment during a challenging period in his life. This transformative experience inspired him to dedicate himself to providing comfort and hope to others facing similar circumstances. He finds fulfillment in fostering positive outcomes for residents, particularly those with dementia, through his patient and compassionate approach. “The care I received gave me a great sense of hope during a trying time,” he says. “From that point on, I wanted to give that same care to others.”
Career Milestones
He pursued his education at the University of Bridgeport on a soccer scholarship before obtaining his nursing license from Lincoln Technical Institute. His academic background, coupled with his extensive hands-on experience in dementia care, has equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in his roles at Meadow Ridge.

Adelino’s leadership philosophy is centered around empathy, patience and a commitment to excellence in care. He believes in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where residents feel valued and supported, even amidst behavioral challenges. He finds immense satisfaction in witnessing the positive impact of his efforts on residents’ well-being and quality of life.

Outside of his professional duties, Adelino enjoys spending quality time with his family and immersing himself in his passion for soccer. Whether watching or coaching, soccer serves as a source of joy and relaxation.
