Ann Sertl

Director of Sales and Marketing, Ann Sertl, started her career in senior living almost 20 years ago. A University of Connecticut graduate with a degree in horticulture, Ann was a stay-at-home mom with four children until 2002, when she decided to get back into the workforce.

That year she came to Meadow Ridge as a part-time receptionist. After a few months, she took a full-time job in marketing, transitioning to move-in coordinator and ultimately becoming a sales counselor.

In 2007 she took a job at another continuing care retirement community. Then, she moved on to a new Benchmark Senior Living community in her hometown of Fairfield, CT., then to another community in Hamden, CT.

When she was asked to return to Meadow Ridge in 2021, she quickly said yes. “This has always been my favorite place to work,” she says. “I have a deep connection to this community. I’m just really happy to be back here.”

Her favorite thing about working in the senior living industry is the connection to people. “I missed the residents. I missed sitting with them in the hall,” she says. “These are relationships, and I feel like coming back, I got this gift—to see these people (again).”

She sees her role as being a resource for people more than a salesperson. “I use my experience to help make their decisions easier, so they feel more confident they’re taking the right step,” she says. “It doesn’t feel like a transaction to me.”

When she’s not at work, Ann enjoys spending time with her adult children and her grandchildren. She loves doing anything outdoors, including biking, paddle boarding, hiking and gardening. She also enjoys cooking and reading historical fiction.
