Role and Responsibilities

Sheila Deslaurier serves as the therapeutic recreation director at Ridge Crest at Meadow Ridge, where she orchestrates and guides recreation services with the goal of enhancing residents’ quality of life. In her role, she not only oversees and trains team members but also infuses each activity with warmth and encouragement, fostering a supportive environment where residents can thrive.

Sheila says her favorite thing about her job is “witnessing the thing that truly moves someone and being present while they become hopeful, joyful, inspired, fully engaged and alive.”

Passion for Senior Care

Having an opportunity to give back to generations that gave so much is why Ridge Crest’s Therapeutic Recreation Director Sheila Deslaurier chose to work in senior living. “They are our living history and the embodiment of enduring change and handling adversity,” she says. “They deserve our reverence and compassionate care.”

With over 25 years of experience working with seniors, Sheila brings a wealth of expertise to her role. She focuses on creating an atmosphere of respect, compassion, personal expression and growth for residents and staff alike. Additionally, she is a certified yoga teacher and health coach, with extensive experience in holistic healthcare.

Sheila believes in fostering an environment of respect, compassion and personal growth for residents and team members. She values the unique stories and contributions of seniors and strives to create opportunities for them to express themselves and engage in fulfilling activities.

Personal Interests

Sheila enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring local rail trails and connecting with nature. She also has a passion for cooking and enjoys creating delicious meals.
